The Front-End Web Developer content introduces students to front-end, or client-side, web development technologies, including, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Participants learn how to make interactive applications that run inside a web browser and can communicate with a web server running remotely. Once complete, participants will have the basic skills necessary to work as a front-end web developer.

The Front-End Web Developer program is designed to prepare students to function as web developers in multiple technical, business, and healthcare settings. Web developers serve roles with job titles such as Web Site Developers, Web Designers, and Web Masters. Students are eligible for an optional externship with a local employer after successful course completion.

Program Objectives

After completing this program, learners will be able to:

Applying understanding of the World Wide Web, web content creation, and web content delivery
Selecting a Web hosting provider and the good practice of testing web content on multiple browsers
Creating a basic website using HTML, CSS, styles, HTML elements, and links, video, and images
Working with fonts, text blocks, lists, and tables to create desired elements in a basic website
Working with internal and external links to customize a website
Working with colors, images, and multimedia to customize a basic website
Installing and configuring JavaScript
Applying an understanding of dynamic websites and HTML5 applications
Using basic JavaScript syntax including conditional statements and loops to develop web applications
Using basic JavaScript syntax including arrays array methods, strings, and expressions
Using functions and function programming in JavaScript
Using JavaScript object, prototype properties, and use of objects as namespaces to avoid name conflicts, and creating anonymous objects
Use HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to develop client applications

Certification Opportunities

After completing this program, learners will have the opportunity to take the leading national/industry-recognized certification exam(s) essential to entry-level employment in this fast-growing field.

Our RTW Job Placement Recruiters actively work with employers to place students in local employment opportunities on a daily basis.

However, if you choose the RTW Externship Placement (as opposed to Job Placement), please note the following requirements:

Drug Screen and Background Checks are Required: Must be completed prior to externship placement.
Weekday Externship Availability Required: You must be available Monday through Friday, between 7am – 5pm for a minimum of 4 hours per day. You may attend 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
Evening and Weekend Externships Are NOT Available: Except for certain Pharmacy Technician externship placements which may have evening and weekend opportunities.
Externship Must be Completed On-Site at the Employer Facility - Remote Externships Are Not Available: Except for certain limited remote Medical Billing & Coding (MBC) externships which may be completed remotely.

*Please Note: You do not have to participate in the Ready to Work (RTW) Job or Externship Placement process to pursue national certifications that may be available once you successfully complete your program.
